This policy explains what information Chopstick and Rice ("we", "us") collects through www.chopstickandrice.com, our online pickup ordering, our AI helper and messages sent to us, how we use it, and the choices you have. Chopstick and Rice is a restaurant at 333 Keahole Street Suite 2E10, Honolulu, HI 96825, phone (808) 460-9898.

We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing.

Information we collect

• When you order: your name, phone number, email address (optional), the dishes and notes you choose, your pickup time, and the order total.
• When you pay: card payments go directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We receive the card brand, the last four digits and whether it is a credit card, never your full card number.
• When you chat: the messages you send our AI helper and its replies, so it can remember your cart during your visit. Phone numbers and email addresses are removed from our chat logs.
• When you sign in: your email address and the sign-in links we send you. We do not use passwords.
• Automatically: like most websites, our server records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

We use two first-party cookies: one remembers your cart and chat (30 days), and one keeps you signed in if you choose to sign in (90 days). We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Two optional features load content from other companies: the Instagram photos section loads from Instagram, and the pho video loads from YouTube only when you press play. Those companies may set their own cookies under their own policies.

How we use your information

• To make your order, take payment, have it ready at your pickup time and hand it to the right person.
• To send your receipt, order updates, sign-in links and, if you leave dishes in your cart, at most one reminder that your order is saved.
• To answer your questions and help you order through the AI helper.
• To keep the restaurant running: sales records, accounting and taxes, and preventing fraud such as stolen-card testing.

We do not send marketing texts.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that help us run the ordering system, and only what each one needs:

• Stripe, for card payments.
• Clover, our restaurant point-of-sale system, so the kitchen receives your order.
• SendGrid (Twilio), to deliver our emails.
• OpenAI, which powers the AI helper and receives the chat messages needed to answer you. We ask OpenAI not to store the conversation.
• Vultr, which hosts our server in the United States.
• Google, if you message us through our Google listing.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our customers, staff or business from fraud.

Messages

If you message us through our website or our Google listing, your messages may be answered by an automated assistant as well as by our staff. These messages are conversational replies to you, not marketing. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop at any time by replying STOP, or ask for help by replying HELP or calling (808) 460-9898.

How long we keep it

• Order records are kept for our business and tax records.
• Carts and chat conversations are deleted from our ordering system 30 days after your last visit. Server chat logs are kept for about three months.
• Sign-in links expire within days. Backups are kept for 30 days.

Your choices

• You can order without an email address; it is only needed for a receipt and order history.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the cart will not be saved if you do.
• To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, call us at (808) 460-9898 or ask at the restaurant. We may keep order records we must keep by law.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your information is stored on a server with restricted access, and card details are handled by Stripe, not by us. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Links to other sites

Our site links to other sites such as Instagram, YouTube and Google Maps. Their privacy practices are their own.
